The Great Glebe Garage Sale

One of North America's largest and most anticipated community garage sales is forty years old. Since 1986, Glebe residents have sold second-hand treasures from their driveways and lawns while Bank Street businesses join in with sidewalk sales, pop-up booths and special promotions. In 2026, more than 35 Glebe businesses took part, seven of them brand new to the neighbourhood, and radio station CKCU-FM broadcast live from the Fourth Avenue Baptist Church courtyard to mark its own 50th year.

How the day works

Slow down and stroll: the sale spreads across the whole neighbourhood, with the densest stretch between the avenues. Come early for the good bins, stay for the sidewalk sales, and finish on a patio (the guideknows where).

Getting there on sale day

Traffic and parking tighten considerably for the event. In 2026, Bank Street between Second and Fourth was local-traffic only, visitor parking was removed from the avenues between Lyon and O'Connor, and the city encouraged cycling and transit instead: OC Transpo routes 6 and 7 run straight to the neighbourhood, paid parking is available in the Lansdowne Park underground garage, and Lansdowne has over 250 bike parking spots.
